Ledger regained control over the Discord channel after a hacker attack

The hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger regained control of its Discord server after an attack by hackers.

The incident occurred on May 10: a hacker compromised the moderator's account and sent out phishing links.

I think the @Ledger Discord has been hacked and there is an announcement asking you to connect your wallet due to a new found vulnerability

I suggested they were hacked and have been immediately banned

Be careful and spread the word

The attacker urged users to enter their seed phrase on a fake website. Participants who tried to warn the community about the fraud were blocked or restricted in the chat.

“The hacking of a moderator's account allowed the attacker to post fraudulent links in one of the channels,” said Ledger representative Quintin Boutright.

The team removed the spam bot, blocked access to the hacked account, and strengthened the server's security.

"We have tightened security measures in Discord. Never enter your seed phrase through links in chats," emphasized Boutright.

Previously, Ledger clients began receiving physical letters with the company logo. They were asked to verify their address by entering the seed phrase.

Recall that in December 2024, scammers sent phishing email notifications to clients on behalf of the company about a service hack to gain access to the victims' wallets.
