AI fake videos teach you financial freedom? A Japanese company has released the latest technology to identify fake animations, using AI to create AI.
Lao Gao set up an experimental Youtube channel, Mr Tabby Tales, proving that as long as you can use AI, you can make fake short videos to achieve financial freedom?! He used generative AI to produce a series of cat-and-mouse videos, which attracted 380,000 subscribers by uploading only 12 videos, which also exposed a problem, the online media is full of fake news information and fake videos, these short films are becoming more and more elaborate, how to judge the authenticity? Japanese media interviewed a start-up company to publish the latest AI technology to detect and analyze the possibility of fraud in the video, which can be said to contain AI with AI, so that the generated AI does not fall into the hands of gangsters and becomes a fraud tool.
Generate AI to accelerate the short video production process, making it difficult to distinguish the authenticity of the video.
Generative AI is rapidly developing, making the previously complex audio-visual production fast and simple. YouTuber Lao Gao, who has six million subscription users, recently created a series of short videos of cats catching RATS using generative AI. He demonstrated through AI creation that with the right application, one can easily produce high-traffic videos to attract viewers, and even potentially achieve financial freedom in a short period!
However, these short videos are too easily spread online, and the level of sophistication makes it difficult for viewers to distinguish between real and fake. If used for fraudulent activities or spreading rumors, they may also deceive the public, leading to losses.
The innovative technology of the Japanese company NABLAS uses AI to counterbalance AI.
In response to the issue of generative AI potentially fostering a large amount of forgery, Japan's NABLAS company is developing an advanced AI technology specifically designed to identify and detect AI-generated fake videos. NABLAS's system analyzes the details within the videos, checking for unnatural movements and inconsistencies that may have occurred during the generation process.
The working principle is to first use AI to decompose the video into a series of images, digitize each frame, and conduct frame-by-frame analysis. Then, the system checks for unnatural movements in the images, specifically the subtle misalignment nodes that appear in the video, which are usually flaws that generative AI cannot avoid during the production process.
NABLAS director Suzuki Miyao pointed out that when artificial intelligence generates each scene, the image will be misaligned, resulting in unnatural nodes, and these subtle unnaturalness are the key to identifying fake films.
More importantly, the technology will also check the individuals in the video, particularly whether their faces have been processed by AI. Generative AI often inadvertently leaves traces of human modifications, which can be detected by specially designed AI systems.
In practical operation, NABLAS's system is capable of conducting detailed inspections of videos. In a segment of an AI-generated video, the AI decomposes its images and examines the beginning of the video. The results indicate that the video has been edited by generative AI, with a likelihood of forgery as high as 94%.
Suzuki Miyao stated that NABLAS plans to officially launch this technology by the end of this month. The introduction of this technology will help raise public awareness of fake videos and effectively curb the spread of misinformation.
The application of AI has already penetrated daily life, and generative AI is the focus of current technology. Not only do we need to learn how to use AI tools to assist in creation and daily life, but we also need corresponding technologies to ensure the authenticity of information.
Suzuki Miyao emphasized that the original intention of developing this technology is to ensure the rational use of AI, pointing out that the generation of AI and fake information may appear in various occasions, and society needs to seriously deal with the problem of video fraud, NABLAS aims to apply this technology to more fields, help users identify fake videos, and promote the correct use of AI technology.
