Industrial AI Cloud: the revolution Nvidia and Deutsche Telekom in Germany

The realization of the Industrial AI cloud in Germany represents a strategic step to transform the European manufacturing sector.

Industrial AI Cloud: the partnership between Nvidia and Deutsche Telekom

The collaboration between the American tech giant Nvidia and the German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom has given rise to the first Industrial AI cloud in Europe, which will be located in Germany. This project aims to enhance the German manufacturing industry through artificial intelligence technologies applied to various production areas.

Deutsche Telekom will lead the management of the new AI factory, providing the cloud computing resources necessary to support the complex European industrial ecosystem. Thanks to this infrastructure, companies will have the opportunity to develop applications in key sectors such as design, engineering, simulation, digital twins, and robotics.

The technologies used in the AI factory

The first phase of the project involves the use of 10,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, including advanced systems like the Nvidia DGX B200 and servers Nvidia RTX PRO. These are complemented by networking solutions and AI software developed by Nvidia. This setup will offer highly specialized computing power specifically designed for complex workloads related to artificial intelligence.

Users of the industrial AI cloud will be able to leverage the Nvidia CUDA-X libraries, widely used to accelerate computing processes in the fields of AI and simulation. Additionally, the platform supports workloads based on Nvidia RTX and Omniverse, with integrations offered by major industrial software providers such as Siemens, Ansys, Cadence, and Rescale.

Advantages for different industrial sectors

This infrastructure is not exclusively aimed at large enterprises. On the contrary, the project intends to involve a wide range of industry players, including small and medium-sized enterprises, the academic world, and large corporations. The availability of advanced and accessible resources in the cloud will facilitate the adoption of artificial intelligence even by less specialized operators, promoting innovation and competitiveness throughout Europe.

Innovation and competitiveness: the vision of Deutsche Telekom

The CEO of Deutsche Telekom, Timotheus Hottges, emphasized the importance of seizing the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence quickly. According to him, revolutionizing the industry through innovative collaborations is essential to ensure the continent a leadership position in the global technological competition.

This strategic vision therefore translates into a concrete commitment aimed at driving the development and adoption of AI in the daily operations of European manufacturing enterprises. The platform, in fact, represents a pillar for the transition towards the so-called “gigafactory AI”, highly automated production plants driven by artificial intelligence.

The gigafactory project and the roadmap to 2027

Supported by the European Union and the German government, the AI gigafactory initiative aims to reach an even larger scale by 2027. This project involves the installation of 100,000 GPUs, a cutting-edge AI infrastructure set to become the nerve center for European businesses, startups, research centers, and universities.

The role of Nvidia in supporting the German AI ecosystem

As of today, about 900 German startups are part of the Nvidia Inception program, which offers them privileged access to the artificial intelligence resources provided by Nvidia. This program acts as an accelerator for innovation, stimulating the growth of new ideas and applications in the AI field.

In parallel, Nvidia also invests in training, offering specialized courses and resources through its Deep Learning Institute. These initiatives are crucial for developing the skills necessary to support a broader dissemination of artificial intelligence systems in the local industrial landscape.

The words of Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia

Jensen Huang highlighted how the creation of the first industrial AI infrastructure in Europe allows the continent’s leading companies to advance towards intelligent production based on simulation and artificial intelligence. This model promises to increase the efficiency and quality of European industrial processes.

A look to the future: collaborations and AI development in Europe

In addition to this partnership, other European telecommunications companies are developing local AI infrastructures, with the goal of enabling businesses in the region to create and implement agentic AI applications, that is, autonomous intelligent systems capable of interacting and making decisions.

Recently, Nvidia has initiated collaborations with model builders and cloud service providers in Europe and the Middle East, stimulating the development of large sovereign language models, that is, AI systems equipped with advanced linguistic capabilities fully managed within regional boundaries.

Towards a new era for the European industry

The birth of the industrial AI cloud in Germany promises to radically transform the way European manufacturing companies operate and compete on a global level. Thanks to this platform, the development of AI applications will become more accessible, fostering an acceleration in the adoption of innovative technologies.

Furthermore, thanks to public and private support, the roadmap towards the AI gigafactory strengthens Europe’s position as a significant technological hub in the field of industrial artificial intelligence. In the future, this infrastructure will be able to power a wide range of innovations, from advanced simulation to intelligent robotics, enhancing the productivity and sustainability of production activities.

We invite companies, researchers, and startups to monitor the evolution of this project and seize the opportunities offered by the new industrial AI cloud to develop cutting-edge solutions and consolidate the competitiveness of the European sector.
