Bloomberg analyst: Doubtful that there will be a DOGE ETF application before Christmas, it is feared that it will only be possible to see it after the Trump administration takes office.
ETF Store CEO Nate Geraci tweeted on 12/23 that he was surprised that no ETF issuer has applied for a shitcoin ETF, and Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas also agreed below, expressing similar surprise.
I thought there would be a shitcoin ETF application around Christmas.
Balchunas said he expected to see applications for shitcoin ETFs around Christmas, especially as cryptocurrency ETFs such as Bitcoin and Ethereum gradually gain market acceptance. But so far, no one has filed, which surprised him.
Balchunas explained that whether it's retail investors or the crypto community, shitcoin has a large following in the market, and there is great anticipation for meme coin ETFs, but the response from financial institutions has been unexpectedly slow.
Believe that there is a chance only when the Trump administration fully takes over.
According to Balchunas' analysis, he now believes that the application for the shitcoin ETF may have to wait until the new chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Paul Atkins, and the Trump administration officially take office before taking any action. Balchunas pointed out that there are significant differences in the policy direction of the SEC under different chairmen. Atkins may adopt a more friendly attitude towards the cryptocurrency market, which will contribute to the development of the meme coin ETF.
Previously, 21Shares CEO Hany Rashwan has already stated that the market is anticipating the "crypto-friendly regulation" by the Trump administration, which would have a positive impact on the industry, further enabling the launch of more cryptocurrency ETFs in the U.S. market. They have also reserved the trading code for shitcoin ETF. Perhaps we will have to wait for the full establishment of the new Trump team to see the possibility of many meme coin ETFs being introduced.
