💀 The US Dollar is preparing for a "death cross" on the weekly chart
📉 The US Dollar Index (DXY) is approaching the formation of the so-called "death cross" on the weekly chart — a rare technical signal that traders are closely monitoring. This will happen for the first time since January 2021.
"Death Cross" 🪦 is a situation where the 50-week moving average (MA50) crosses below the 200-week moving average (MA200). This is typically interpreted as a bearish signal 📉 indicating a potential long-term decline of the asset.
🔄 Historical irony: "death cross" as the beginning of growth
At first glance, the term sounds ominous. But history teaches otherwise:
📅 March 2018 — after the formation of the "death cross", the Dollar index sharply turned upward and strengthened by more than 10% over the course of 2 years.
📅 January 2021 — a similar picture: $DXY touched the bottom (~89 points) and began a powerful bullish trend, reaching a peak around 114 in 2022 📈.
👉 That is, every time the market saw a "death cross" on the weekly chart — it foreshadowed not a decline, but a reversal upwards. A paradox? Not at all.
