The DePIN project is thriving in the multi-chain ecosystem, with major public chains exhibiting different characteristics.
The Development Trend of DePIN on Major Public Chains
With the rapid development of decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN), a number of notable projects have emerged on major public chain platforms. Although the Solana ecosystem is currently in the spotlight, some well-known DePIN projects have begun to choose Arbitrum and Polygon as their underlying infrastructure.
In the foreseeable future, public chains focused on DePIN such as IoTex and Peaq, as well as Layer 1 and Layer 2 public chains that are vigorously developing artificial intelligence technologies like Near and Aptos, will continue to maintain growth momentum. The following is an overview of the development of DePIN projects on major public chains:
Ethereum: Diversification of Applications
The DePIN projects on Ethereum present a diversity of characteristics:
ORA: A verifiable AI oracle, is developing opML technology to bring AI models on-chain.
ATOR: A decentralized WiFi network where users can earn token rewards by connecting to the network and contributing bandwidth. Currently, there are about 3,400 nodes.
AIOZ: A comprehensive DePIN solution that covers application scenarios such as Web3 storage, decentralized AI computing, streaming, and video on demand. There are currently over 180,000 nodes.
Janction: An AI Layer2 project that provides GPU network and traceable data input services for small and medium-sized enterprises and startups.
Deeper: A decentralized VPN network (DPN) where users can earn token rewards by contributing idle bandwidth. Currently has approximately 150,000 nodes.
Solana: Leading in Node Count
The DePIN projects in the Solana ecosystem are characterized by a large number of nodes:
Helium: A decentralized wireless hotspot network with over 1 million nodes.
Render: A decentralized GPU network where users can connect idle GPUs to complete rendering tasks and earn tokens. There are currently about 3,700 nodes.
HiveMapper: A decentralized mapping network where users contribute data to the map by connecting dashcams to earn token rewards. There are currently over 150,000 nodes.
DePHY: An integrated DePIN framework designed to simplify the development process of DePIN projects.
HajimeAI: A Solana AI sidechain project dedicated to bringing multi-intelligent AI to the blockchain to meet various user needs.
Polygon: The Most Active DePIN
The DePIN projects on Polygon are showing an active development trend:
DIMO: A decentralized automotive data network where users can create and share verified vehicle data streams to earn tokens. It has over 100,000 nodes.
WIFI Map: A WiFi hotspot network where users can earn token rewards by contributing WiFi resources. It has approximately 15 million nodes.
Geodnet: A geographic data network where users can earn rewards by connecting rooftop GNSS antennas. Currently, there are nearly 9,000 nodes.
Arbitrum: A Veteran dApp Hub
There are two well-known DePIN projects on Arbitrum:
Livepeer: A mature decentralized video streaming network where nodes contribute computing resources and network bandwidth to provide live or on-demand services for enterprises.
Wicrypt: A WiFi sharing platform where users can purchase dedicated devices to share WiFi and earn token rewards. Currently, there are about 1800 nodes.
IoTex: Focused on Sensor Applications
The DePIN projects in the IoTex ecosystem mainly focus on the sensor application field:
Wayru: A decentralized WiFi network where users can share WiFi and earn token rewards by purchasing dedicated devices or using existing WiFi devices to set up nodes.
Inferix: A decentralized GPU network where users can share idle GPU computing power to earn token rewards. There are currently over 1500 nodes.
PowerPod: A decentralized electric vehicle charging station network where users can purchase charging equipment to share in exchange for token rewards.
Network3: A decentralized AI network where users can share bandwidth, computing power, and datasets to provide services for AI models, thereby earning token rewards.
Peaq: Rich Use Cases for Innovation
The DePIN projects in the Peaq ecosystem showcase a wealth of innovative applications:
Natix: A decentralized camera network aimed at building a real-time world map. Users can download a dedicated camera app to collect geographic images to earn token rewards.
Silencio: A global network measuring noise pollution, where users can measure the noise pollution in their surroundings using their mobile phones to earn token rewards.
Overall, DePIN projects are showing a thriving trend across major public blockchains, covering multiple areas from infrastructure to application layers. With technological advancements and market demand growth, we can expect more innovative DePIN projects to emerge in the future.
