The U.S. Senate Banking Committee's digital asset subcommittee held a hearing on a bipartisan legislative framework to explore the market structure of digital assets, and participants urged Congress to pass legislation on digital assets as soon as possible. The term "BTC" was not mentioned at the hearing. Nevertheless, BTC will still be affected by some cryptocurrency regulation discussed at the hearing. On the occasion of the hearing, Senator Cynthia Lummis, Republican of Wyoming, Thom Tillis, Republican of North Carolina, Bill Hagerty, Republican of Tennessee, and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott, Republican of South Carolina, released the digital asset market structure principles this morning. Senator Lummis presided over the hearing and mentioned some of the principles at the beginning, jokingly adding that since the Senate has already voted on the GENIUS Act, the United States is entering the 21st century financially. Also participating in the hearing are Senator Bill Hagerty of the Republican Party of Tennessee, Bernie Moreno of the Republican Party of Ohio, Angela Alsobrooks of the Democratic Party of Maryland, Dave McCormack of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania, and the panel of witnesses.
