In recent months, many companies, including the American giant GameStop, made their first BTC purchases.
A study conducted at this point revealed that approximately one third of the Bitcoin supply is held in central institutions.
***According to the latest research conducted by Gemini and Glassnode, it was found that approximately one-third of Bitcoin's circulating supply, which amounts to (30.9 %), or about 6.1 million BTC, is held by institutions.
These BTCs, worth 668 billion dollars, are held in central treasuries, including governments, ETFs, and publicly traded companies.
According to the report, these figures represent a 924% increase over the past decade, indicating that these institutions see Bitcoin as a strategic store of value.
"As institutional adoption increased, during the same period, the price of Bitcoin rose from below 1,000 dollars to above 100,000 dollars. This situation strengthened the thesis that institutions increasingly see Bitcoin as a strategic asset.
Although Bitcoin continues to be a risky asset, its integration into traditional finance has made price movements more reliable and less affected by speculative excesses.
The research by Gemini and Glassnode also revealed that sovereign treasury wallets move infrequently and show very little correlation with Bitcoin's price cycles. However, the report noted that there is enough BTC held by government treasuries to potentially influence prices, indicating that the movement or sale of Bitcoins could impact the markets.
