On July 1, Jin10 data reported that the economic recovery in the UK may be stronger than expected as consumer borrowing increases. Data released by the Bank of England on Monday showed that consumer credit in May almost doubled from the previous month. Weber, an analyst at Capital Macro Analysis, said this may reflect freer retail spending that month. He said that the number of approved mortgage loans this month has decreased slightly, but the Bank of England may cut interest rates in August, which should boost new mortgage loans later this year. Weber said: "This provides some support for our view that the economic recovery may be stronger than people generally think."
