When asked whether this situation poses a significant risk to the market, Lagarde said, "I sincerely hope it does not happen... this should not become a real threat." In response to reporters' follow-up questions, Lagarde refused to comment on the market impact of a "hypothetical scenario," emphasizing her firm belief that this matter "is not under consideration." Recently, Trump has been continuously pressuring Powell to cut interest rates, warning that otherwise it would lead to an economic slowdown. Powell countered last week, stating that the trade war could simultaneously suppress growth and raise inflation, and reiterated that the FED would maintain policy patience.
