Protocol DAO will adopt a new on-chain voting mechanism, independent of the current Snapshot voting system.
According to official sources, Rocket Pool announced that since the launch of Phase 0 of Protocol DAO governance, over 763,488 ETH has been staked. Phase 0 introduced Snapshot voting for Protocol DAO (pDAO), allowing pDAO to express its intentions. The Protocol DAO currently has a clear governance process, active voting participation, funding programs, liquidity incentives, financial management functions, and active public debates. In the future, most aspects of Rocket Pool will be voted on using Snapshot (which has the advantage of not requiring gas fees). Rocket Pool believes that any on-chain proposal should be voted on first using Snapshot, and then on-chain voting should be carried out. However, due to some technical limitations, Protocol DAO needs to abandon the current Snapshot address and replace it with two new addresses. Therefore, a maximum of 3 addresses will be involved in the voting: pDAO Signalling Address, pDAO Delegate Node, Node Address. Initially, on-chain voting will be disabled to allow sufficient voting power to be set up on the new system. Once enough voting power is migrated, the Core Team will enable the voting system, with pDAO in charge; Snapshot will also be migrated to use new Signalling addresses and delegations, creating a unified governance system. The new on-chain voting system will be completely separate from the current Snapshot voting system. Therefore, the delegated voting rights will be migrated to the new system. Node operators need to: initialize voting rights, set pDAO Signalling Address, and set delegation (if delegating to another node operator).
