## Instant and free stablecoin transfer

Blockchain development company Aptos Labs and African fintech company Yellow Card announced their partnership on the 2nd, launching instant and gas-free stablecoin transfers across 20 countries in Africa.

According to a study by Yellow Card, there are currently over 54 million users in Sub-Saharan Africa (the region south of the Sahara Desert) utilizing cryptocurrency. Stablecoins are being used as a stable store of value in regions where access to the US dollar is restricted and in countries experiencing ongoing currency crises, and their demand is rapidly increasing.

According to data from the African research company Intelpoint, the trading volume of P2P cryptocurrency exchanges is overwhelmingly high in Africa, with 7 out of the top 10 countries being African nations.

Through this partnership, millions of Yellow Card users will be able to utilize Aptos's high-speed blockchain for instant and gas-free USDT and USDC transfers. The integration of Yellow Card's extensive financial network with Aptos's advanced blockchain infrastructure will enable users in Africa to regularly access more affordable, convenient, and fast stablecoin transfers.

Gillian Darko, the Chief Strategy Officer of Yellow Card, stated the significance of this partnership as follows.

By eliminating gas fees and enabling instant payments on the robust next-generation Layer 1 Aptos network, millions of people will be able to use USDT and other stablecoins for various purposes, from cross-border remittances to everyday shopping, faster and at a more affordable price.

Additionally, Mr. Alex Heuer, who leads the payment division of Aptos Labs, stated, "Africa is leading the adoption of stablecoins in real use cases, and our zero-fee and instant settlement features perfectly fit this demand."

Yellow Card and Aptos Lab

Yellow Card is Africa's first licensed stablecoin payment platform, operating in 20 countries across the African continent and emerging markets. It supports dollar-pegged currencies such as USDT, USDC, and PYUSD, and collaborates with local payment methods like mobile money. It provides remittance, asset protection, and payment services to individuals and businesses.

Yellow Card entered into a partnership with Visa, a leading credit card company, in June of this year to promote the use of stablecoins in cross-border payments. Yellow Card plans to start stablecoin transactions through its partnership with Visa in at least one country by the end of this year, and aims to further expand its scale by 2026.

Aptos Labs is promoting the development of the next-generation Layer 1 blockchain Aptos, supported by prominent investors such as Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Franklin Templeton, and PayPal Ventures.

The Aptos blockchain has achieved finality of less than 1 second and over 11,000 transactions per second in stablecoin transfers.

Aptos Labs is focusing on its expansion in the Japanese market, and in October last year, it signed an acquisition agreement with HashPalette, which develops NFT and metaverse businesses, and made it a wholly-owned subsidiary.

HashPalette is the developer of PaletteChain, which aims to issue, manage, and distribute digital content, and had issued its own cryptocurrency "Palette Token (PLT)." PaletteChain has migrated to the Aptos network, and PLT has been exchanged for the Aptos network's native token "Aptos (APT)."

The Aptos network has been adopted as the blockchain network for the official wallet app "EXPO2025 Digital Wallet" at the ongoing Osaka-Kansai Expo.
