After the largest data breach in history, Tether CEO revealed the launch of the password manager PearPass.
Gate News bot reports, according to The Block, that Tether's CEO Paolo Ardoino stated in his latest social media post that it is time to iterate on the practice of storing passwords in the cloud, and announced that Tether will soon launch a locally running password manager called PearPass.
"The cloud has disappointed us again," Ardoino wrote in his X post on Thursday, referring to the massive password leak that occurred across major IT platforms yesterday. "16 billion passwords have just been leaked. It's time to give up on the cloud."
According to Forbes, on Thursday, 16 billion passwords from Apple, Facebook, Google, government service departments, and other social media platforms were leaked, which is considered the largest data breach in history.
According to Cybernews, cybersecurity experts have described this leak as a "blueprint for large-scale exploitation," enabling criminals to use the stolen information to launch hacking or phishing attacks.
Ardoino stated that it was precisely because of these vulnerabilities in the cloud security field that the company developed PearPass, which is described as a "fully localized, open-source" password manager. This means that all data, including passwords and encryption keys, are completely stored on the user's device without relying on cloud storage.
Ardoino wrote: "No cloud, no servers, absolutely no leaks." He also added that PearPass is about to be released.
