## Providing 5G communication and smartphones

The Trump Organization, a real estate development and management company owned by Donald Trump and run by his family, announced on the 16th that it will launch a new mobile phone service called "Trump Mobile."

Trump Mobile offers 5G services through three major mobile carriers in the United States. At the core of the service is the flagship plan "47 Plan," available for a monthly fee of $47.45 (approximately ¥6,900).

This pricing is inspired by Donald Trump serving as the 45th and 47th President of the United States. Subscribers can mainly enjoy the following benefits.

  • Unlimited calls, text messages, and data
  • 24/7 roadside assistance by Drive America
  • Remote healthcare services, including virtual medical care, mental health support, and easy ordering and delivery of prescription medications
  • Free international calls to over 100 countries, including U.S. military bases overseas.
  • No credit check required

Trump Mobile boasts that you can easily switch to their SIM from your current phone by simply making a call to their service center.

In addition, Trump Mobile is scheduled to release the "T1 Phone" in September. The price is expected to be $499 (approximately 72,000 yen). It is anticipated to be a gold-colored smartphone designed and manufactured in the United States.

Eric Trump, the son of President Trump and senior vice president of the Trump Organization, commented as follows.

Diligent American citizens have the right to access wireless services that reflect their values and are of reliable quality at affordable prices. We take pride in being able to offer free long-distance calls, especially to military personnel and their families.

The Donald Trump family is also promoting the DeFi (Decentralized Finance) project "World Liberty Financial (WLFI)" and issued the dollar-pegged stablecoin "USD1" in March.

In addition, the company operating the social media platform "Truth Social," Trump Media, plans to initiate a Bitcoin (BTC) financial strategy.

On the other hand, there are also voices of doubt regarding this announcement. First of all, there is the feasibility of a "smartphone designed and manufactured in the U.S." At this point, there are concerns that it is impossible to manufacture a smartphone from scratch in the U.S. due to issues such as the supply chain.

For example, according to the BBC, Leo Gebbie, an analyst at CCS Insight, suggested that they might claim to be "made in the USA" by importing parts from overseas and assembling the devices in the United States.

Furthermore, it has become additional criticism regarding President Trump's conflicts of interest.

Megan Forkner, the communications director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), stated that Trump Mobile is "a new means for President Trump to privately profit during his time in office."

So far, there have been criticisms, especially from the Democratic Party, stating that the official meme coin issuance by President Trump and the issuance of the stablecoin "USD1" by WLFI constitute a conflict of interest.

On the other hand, President Trump denied last month the claim that he is profiting financially from the official meme coin "TRUMP."
