## Building Personal Authentication Infrastructure in the Web3 Era
Coincheck Inc., which operates the cryptocurrency trading service "Coincheck," announced on the 16th a collaboration with My Wallet Inc., which is developing a Web3 wallet utilizing the My Number Card.
The "Maina Wallet" being developed by Maina Wallet Inc. is an authentication-based wallet that allows users to manage and send/receive digital assets such as cryptocurrencies and NFTs simply by holding up their My Number Card. It is characterized by its ease of use without the need for pre-installing an app and its simple operations.
We aim to provide access to Web3 services for a broader demographic, from children to the elderly, based on the My Number card held by approximately 100 million people in the country.
Prior to this collaboration, Coincheck Group N.V., the parent company of Coincheck, has also made an investment in MyWallet.
Coincheck aims to promote the spread of My Wallet through this partnership, supporting the establishment of a "private-sector authentication infrastructure" and accelerating the social implementation of Web3 in Japan.
My Number Card × Web3 authentication
Myina Wallet Corporation is also attracting attention as a core player in the promotion of Web3 through public-private partnerships. It has been participating early in the meetings for system design led by the Digital Agency and the Cabinet Secretariat, strengthening its collaboration with policy formation.
As a proof of concept, efforts are already underway in the Yamakoshi region of Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, and by the end of 2024, there have been cases where Digital Minister Hirakawa Masaaki experienced touch payments with stablecoins using My Number cards.
The same wallet is expected to support integration with decentralized IDs (DID) and verifiable credentials (VC), and is anticipated to be deployed as a practical infrastructure for the Web3 society.
