Ripple collaborates with JETRO-supported "Web3 Salon" to foster Japanese startups.
Ripple Inc. announced on the 9th a partnership with the entrepreneurship support program "Web3 Salon" aimed at supporting Web3 startups in Japan. Web3 Salon is an initiative led by the Asia Web3 Alliance Japan with the support of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
Through this collaboration, Ripple plans to provide grants of up to $200,000 (approximately 31 million yen) for Japan-based Web3 projects built on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) over the next year.
The beneficiaries of the grant are early-stage startups working in areas such as decentralized finance (DeFi), tokenization of real-world assets (RWA), and digital payments. The selection will be conducted by Ripple based on factors such as technical maturity, growth potential, and alignment with Ripple's strategy.
In addition to funding, selected startups will also have access to Ripple's global partners and expert network. Details and application requirements can be found on the official XRPL Grants page.
Four events are scheduled until March 2026.
The partnership between Web3 Salon and Ripple aims to promote the adoption of blockchain technology and digital assets in Japan. While Japan excels in regulatory clarity and technological prowess, it is also true that there are institutional barriers to entry for emerging startups.
While Ripple provides funding support and international network connections, Web3 Salon focuses on activities specialized in supporting entrepreneurs, such as refining business strategies, regulatory compliance assistance, and matching with investors. Through collaboration, both aim to lower the barriers for Web3 startups in the Japanese market and create an environment where domestic and international startups can operate more smoothly.
Christina Chan, Senior Director of Developer Growth at RippleX, stated the following.
The Japanese startup ecosystem is very active and has significant growth potential. With this collaboration, we at Ripple also want to support innovation and contribute to the development of the next generation of leaders.
This support is part of the XRPL Japan and Korea Fund, which is included in Ripple's ecosystem support program amounting to a total of 1 billion XRP.
Ripple and Web3 Salon will co-host a total of four major events by March 2026 through this initiative. These events will feature pitches from promising startups, panel discussions by experts from both Japan and abroad, networking with investors, and workshops on topics such as tokenization, regulation, and cross-border expansion.
