For many years, Apple has been leading Google in consumer app spending. This remains the case in Sensor Tower's Q1 2024 Digital Market Index report. The report indicates that from a platform perspective, iOS is still the highest-grossing platform, with a total transaction volume of $24.6 billion this quarter, an 11.5% year-on-year increase. In comparison, Google Play Store's total revenue increased by 5.3% to reach $11.2 billion. In terms of digital store downloads, Apple's downloads increased by 2.1% year-on-year to reach 8.4 billion times. This is the best total since Q2 2020. However, compared to Google Play, Apple App Store's downloads pale in comparison, with Google Play's downloads reaching 25.6 billion times this quarter. This actually decreased by 5.2%, but it is still more than three times the total downloads of the App Store. Overall, Google Play remains the largest app store in terms of download volume. In terms of actual consumer income, Apple still leads.
