Solana plans to expand block space to 100M CU by the end of the year.
According to the Gate.io News bot, Wu Shuo reported that the Vice President of Core Engineering at Anza, a Solana ecosystem development company, announced in a podcast that the Solana block space will be expanded to a block limit of 100M CU by the end of the year, doubling the current capacity.
Compute Units (CU) serve as a unit for measuring transaction computing resources in the Solana network, similar to the Gas mechanism in Ethereum, responsible for limiting transaction complexity and protecting network resources. Currently, the block limit for Solana is 48M CU, with two related proposals: SIMD-0207 proposes to increase the block limit to 50M CU, while SIMD-0256 suggests raising it to 60M CU.
The increase in the limit of block CU this time will expand the block size and impose higher performance requirements on validating nodes.
