The Interchain Foundation funds Tharsis Labs to release evmOS Open Source, to enhance the interoperability between Ethereum and Cosmos.
According to Techub News, the Interchain Foundation (ICF), the governing body of the Cosmos ecosystem and its inter-blockchain communication (IBC) protocol, has officially funded Tharsis Labs to release evmOS as open source, to enhance interoperability between Ethereum and Cosmos. evmOS is an Ethereum-compatible Layer 1 solution that allows developers to build EVM-driven blockchains using the Cosmos SDK. evmOS will be open-sourced under the Apache 2.0 license, and ICF will create a fork of the technology, renaming it Cosmos EVM, which will continue to be developed as part of the Interchain Stack by the Interchain Labs (ICL) team. The evmOS roadmap (now Cosmos EVM) remains committed to its core objective of enhancing the EVM ecosystem and providing seamless Ethereum compatibility within the Cosmos network. ICF and ICL will work closely with the evmOS project to ensure a smooth transition during the upcoming network upgrades.
