io.net Seals SOC 2 Certification to Meet Growing Enterprise Demand for Compute | Bitcoinist.com
Decentralized GPU network io.net has announced that it has been granted SOC 2 compliance certification, becoming one of the first web3 computing platforms to meet the enterprise security standard.
With institutional demand for compute resources continuing to surge amid an avalanche of AI and machine learning (ML) apps hitting the market, io.net believes the certification will cement its status as a trusted partner for businesses adopting decentralized infrastructure.
Security Takes Center Stage
Gaurav Sharma, CTO of io.net, hailed the network’s acquisition of the certification, saying “Achieving SOC 2 compliance validates the work we’ve been doing behind the scenes from day one to ensure our systems are secure and that rigorous data integrity standards are in place.
“While this certification benefits all io.net users, it will be of particular interest to enterprises that are duty bound to partner with organizations that maintain the highest standards of data protection and compliance.”
Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), SOC 2 is an industry-leading cybersecurity framework that certifies the secure management of customer data among third-party service providers. As well as evaluating their data protection mechanisms, the certification process involves rigorous assessment of an organization’s security controls and operational transparency.
SOC 2 compliance is said to align with the network’s vision of delivering secure, scalable and decentralized GPU compute solutions to meet the needs of enterprises in regulated industries – many of whom cite security concerns as a barrier to web3 adoption.
Io.net functions as a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) that leverages the distributed GPU compute resources of millions of users, giving developers of AI/ML applications the power they need to fuel innovation
Web3 Infrastructure Landscape Evolves
The push for enterprise adoption comes amid significant developments in the decentralized computing space. Earlier this month, io.net announced a partnership with AI data execution layer Alpha Network, with the pair working to develop a secure environment for AI and Web3 applications. The DePIN has also been collaborating with Layer-1 blockchain Injective on tools for machine learning model deployment.
With decentralized networks like io.net positioning themselves to meet the increasing demand for GPU computing resources, it remains to be seen whether they can eat into the market share of traditional cloud providers. Achieving SOC 2 compliance certification is certainly a step in the right direction.
